STREET FRUIT-SELLERS.
HIRING OF STANDS. WELLINGTON AUCTION PRICES. [by teleghath. —press association*.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. When the "Wellington City Council sought to iniposo restrictions on those who hire street stands for the sale of fruit, Indian barrow men met the. proposals with strong opposition and declined to bicl for stands. At the last auction, however, the. council decided to offer stands under the old conditions for the July quarter, and at yesterday's auction all were sold with ihe exception of two.
One stand at the corner of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street brought £6B, and another in Lambton Quay £56 10s. Otherwise prices were lower than for the corresponding quarter of last year.
