KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR.
ELDERLY WOMAN HURT.
CONDITION FAIRLY SERIOUS.
As a result of being knocked down bJ a motor-car in Ponsonby Road shortly after 7.30 last evening, Mrs. Jemina Yeates, aged 77, of 1, Brown Street, Ponsonby, received injuries to the back. Mrs. Yeates was crossing the road opposite Western Park when she was struck by a motor-car travelling toward the « y and driven by Mr. William war Oughton, of 51, St. Mary's Road, Ponsonby. She was taken by the St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital.. Her condition last evening was reporte to bo fairly serious.
