AUCKLAND HOSPITAL.
THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT. BOARD EXTENDS WELCOME. , A welcome to Dr. J. W. Craven on assuming his duties as medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital was extended by members of the board at the hojpital yesterday. In congratulating Dr. Craven on his appointment, Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the board, assured him of the co-opera-tion of the board and the staff. Mr. Wallace said the keynote of hospital administration must be that the patient received first consideration. Difficult times were beiag experienced, and every effort must be made to economise without any detriment being done to the patients. Dr. •Cra.ven had accepted a heavy responsibility, but- in about three months' time Mr. Wallace hoped it would be possible for him to provide the board with a report which world indicate his organising ability. An assurance that- the board could expect his wholehearted co-operation in every resoect was given by Dr. Craven in returning thanks lor the board s expression of goodwill. Ho realised the patient should have first consideration and he hoped to show that he was worthy of the confidence reposed in him.
