CHRYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The fifth annual meeting of the Auckland Chrysanthemum Society was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. W. J. Wernham presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted,- the latter showing a satisfactory financial position. Fifty-seven new members were enrolled during the year, the membership now standing at 181. Through the efforts of the society similar uodies had been formed in about 14 different centres. The members were unanimous in their opinion that the arrangement' with the Horticultural Society.# whereby the two societies would co-operate in every possible way would prove- of great benefit to horticulture generally. The officers elected for the forthcoming year are as follows: —President, Sir Edwin Mitchelson; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. T. Goldie, A. G. Tonkin, F. S. Ballin, W. Rainger, D. A. Hay and G. J. Mackay; executive, Messrs. W. J. Wernham (chairman), A. H. Finer, G. P. Worlcy, R. Boyne, E. C. Danliy and G. Hewlett; lion, treasurer, Mr. S. W. Thomas; hon, general secretary, Mr. A. E. McMahon; hon. assistant secretary, Mr. A. Garside. Mr. Finer was elected an honorary life member.
