EPSOM GIRLS' SCHOOL.

TOWN HALL CONCERT.

A concert given by pupils of the Epsom Girls' Grammar School at the Town Hall last evening attracted a lar;je attendance of parents and friends. The programme consisted of an attractive variety of songs, dances and displays of drill, and wellmerited applause greeted the conclusion of the various items. As an overture the orchestra played two numbers, "Allegretto" and a gavotte, and the renderings proved very popular. The fourth forms and also the upper school gave drill 'displays to music, in which good combination and individual work was apparent. One of the most popular numbers in the evening's entertainment was a dance, "Russian Sleigh Bells," given by Misses V. Ilalford, J. Clark, M. Evans, M. Morrow, D. Kelly, K. McBeath, M. Iggulden, J. Stewart, after which continual demands for an encore were made. Another dance, a gavotte, by Misses L. Marks, K. Sellers (principals), K. Norton, J. Robinson, M. Heughan, D. Aickin, D. Petersen and M. Lawry, obtained a good reception. Misses L. Robinson, J. Kendall, J. Bartrurti, R. Hughes, B. Dickson, J. Wood, M. Trower and 11. McChesney took part in a Japanese traditional dance, which was performed with appropriate technique. In the songs numbers the junior choir gave "Hark! the Bolls are Ringing"; forms Va and Vb sang "Hunting Song"; the select choir sang "Tlio Violet"; forms Va, Vb and Vc sang "Orpheus," scene No. 7; forms VI, Va and Va mod. sang "Vous Dancez Marquise"; and the concert concluded with two items, "ft Comes From the Misty Ages" and "Rule Britannia," all of which were well received. There was also a play, "Mr. Sampson," by Misses P. Penty, R. Evans and V. Bray, and a sketch, "Two on a Bus," by Misses F. Gibson and E. Goodrich, giving examples of good acting by the pupils.
