USE OF THEATRE REFUSED.

HAMILTON COUNCIL'S DECISION

HAMILTON, Thursday.

A protest against the attitude of the Hamilton Borough Council in refusing the Hamilton branch of the Labour Party permission to hold a meeting in a theatre on Sunday was made by Mr. C. Lafferty at a meeting of (he council last evening. Mr. Lafferty sairl the Labour Tarty was not a revolutionary organisat ion and had no connection with Communistic literature, of which complaint wan made when an application by another body to hold a Sunday meeting in the theatre was wilder review. By refusing permission the council would incur displeasure and it would bo refusing a right to which the Labour Party was entitled. In reply to a question, tho Mayor, Dr. F. I). Pinfold, said it was the council's desire to prohibit all political meetings in theatres on Sundays. The branch's request for permission to use the theatre on Sunday was refused, but it was decided to offer no objection to the holding of a Sunday meeting in Seddon Park.
