JURY DISAGREES.

NEW TRIAL ORDERED. The Supreme Court wa§ cleared by Mr. Justice Herdman yesterday during the hearing of a charge of carnal knowledge of a girl aged 14 years and two months made against George Brittain, aged 37. .cleaner. After an hour's absence the jury rei turned to say they could not agree, but ' ,wero sent back to give the matter further consideration. The jury returned after a further three hours' retirement and announced that they had been unable to agree. An application by the Crown for a new trial was granted.
