PROSECUTION FAILS.
A REGISTRAR'S ADVICE. COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE. [by telegraph.—press association.] CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. Stringent criticism of the action of the registrar ot the Pharmacy Board, in suggesting in writing that a man should follow a certain course, and later prosecuting him for following the registrar's advice, was expressed in the Magistrate s Court this morning. The magistrate, Mr. H. P. Lnwry, declared that he had no intention of convicting on the information, and dismissed the case. The defendant was Ceorge Bel lie, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of carrying on business as an unregistered clruggist. Bettle's counsel said that defendant had been carrying on business as a manufacturing chemist since 19J6. In 1932 he to Ihe registrar and asked if he could use the term chemist. The registrar replied that he could nut, but that he could use the term druggist. Bottle relied on that advice. " It might be said that Bettle should know the law but surely the registrar should know the law also," said counsel.
