CONDITIONS IN CAMPS.
COMMITTEE INVESTIGATES. REPORT FOR THE MAYOR. To investigate matters raided by the Unemployed Relief Workers' Association in reference to conditions in relief camps, visits of inspection to several camps in the Ohinemuri and Franklin counties were paid yesterday bv a committee arranged liv the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison. The committee comprised Archbishop Averill, the l!cv. C. Houchen, Major E. l'uttick and Dr. \V. M. MeCormick, and was accompanied by Mr. F. S. Dyson, district engineer of the Public Works Department, and Mr. W. Slaughter, officer in charge of I'lie Labour Department in Auckland. The party left Auckland at 9 a.m. and returned shortly before 11 p.m. The committee will meet this morning and submit a report to the Mayor on the general conditions of the. camps. Members declined to make any statement last evening.
