TROLLEY FATALITY.
COMMENTS BY CORONER. STREET LIGHTING CRITICISED. [BY TELEGItATIt. —I'JUCSS ASSOCIATION.] WELL IN G TON, Wed nesday. At an inquest to-dav concerning the deal h of Alexander McDonald, aged eight, years, who was knocked down by a motor-car and killed while effecting repairs to a trolley in Jervois Quay on the evening of April 16, the coroner, Mr. T. 11. McNeil, S.M., recalled that in Juno of last year, after having heard the opinions of laymen and the police, he thought it his duty to direct the attention of the City Corporation to the lighting in Jervois Quay, suggesting that it might be improved. Mr. McNeil said he understood the matter was considered, but the evidence in the present case showed that the lighting was still inadequate. He again directed (lie attention of the authorities to the matter. The coroner also drew attention to the danger of hoys using uulighted trollies on the dark bitumen at night. If boys used trollies after dark, ho said, they should see that they were properly lighted. They should not stop in way of traffic, even in the event of something happening lo the trolley. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence of death through being run into by a motor-car*
