WATER POLO COMPETITIONS. The conclusion of I lie season s water polo competitions leaves the strong impression of a pronounced rise in the playing standard of both A a nil B grade teams. This can he directly attributed to the formation about two years ago of the Auckland Water Polo Control Board, which rulievcd the Auckland Swimming Centre, of the. responsibility for the conduct of Witter polo and whose function was to evolve means of enlivening interest in the game. Since it. was established the control hoard lias succeeded in doveloping a keen competitive spirit among clubs. Of all the teams pailicipating in the hoard's contests the finest displays were undoubtedly given by the Ponsotiby Club's representatives. For another season the A team emerged unbeaten from the senior matches and the second team retained Ihe.B grade championship. No club in Auckland has adopted water polo with so much enthusiasm as „Ponsonby and the fine records of its teams are the leward of thorough training methods. The senior team, in particular, repeatedly delighted enthusiasts with team work and ball control that, was well nigh fault l< s>.
