HARBOUR MATTERS.

MANUKAU HEADS LEASE. An area of land on the south head of tho Manukau Harbour desired by the Marine Department is to be retained by tho Auckland Harbour Board for the use of tho signalman, the section containing tho only reliable water supply in tho reservo leased to the board. Ihe decision was made by tho board yesterday on the recommendation of the Manukau Harbour Committee, based on a report by tho harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant. The department desired to resume about 10 to 15 acres of tho 91.5 acres leased to the board. Permission was given the Franklin County Council to take a quantity of muddy sea shell free of royalty for the purpose of surfacing two miles of the AwliituOrua Bay Road, in view of the project being a relief work.
