HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. STORMY, WITH HEAVY RAIN. The following weather forecast, for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-cliiy was supplied by llr. H. 11. Vincent last evening:—The high barometric pressure system is now moving off the Dominion and a vigorous depression is approaching New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. A cyclone is apparently developing north-westward of Capo Maria. A change in weather conditions is expected, considerable cloudiness being followed by heavy general rains. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, increasing strong to gale. Seas becoming rough to heavy generally. Local outlook:—Stormy, with heavy rain. Milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling r.. 30.05 in. Midnight, Monday .. .. 30.20 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 61dug.; minimum, 51 cleg, GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist, reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclono has been crossing New Zealand to-day. An extensive tropical disturbance has been located If) the north-west of Norfolk Island, while a depression over the southern Tasman Sea has been losing its intensity. Indications are for north-easterly and south-easterly winds, freshening generally arid becoming strong and squally in the far north. Seas rough north of East Capo and a considerable swell southward to Kaikonra, elsewhere moderate. 'ln the eastern Tasman Sen, strong easterly winds and rough seas in tho northern portion and moderate to fresh northeasterly to south-easterly winds with moderate seas in the southern portion. Tlio weather will be fine generally at' first, but with cloud and hazn gradually increasing and rain developing in tho northern and eastern districts of the North Island and also on tho West Coast, of the South Island.
