SELECTION OF CYCLISTS. TRIALS AT WANGANUI. [I?V TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The, New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association decided this evening to hold cycling trials for the selection of the Olympic Games team at Wanganui on April 29 and April 30. The trials will include two track events on a banked track at Cook's Gardens on April 29, and a road trial from Wanganui to Levin on April 30. The following nominations were received for the trials: — Auckland. —11. O. Browne, 11. V. Gordon and I. C. Laloli (track), and M. P. Byrnes, 11. It. Dwight and It. G. Foubister (road). Canterbury.—T. O'Brien and - F. J. G rose. West Coast (North Island).—A. Hanson. Wellington.— L. Roberts and R. Ulmer. The Canterbury Centre forwarded the following motion, which had been passed by the centre"That the council be informed that our objections to the Olympic cycling trials were made in ignorance of the recommendations of tlio Cycling Conference at Auckland, and, in view of this, we accede to tho proposals to hold the trials." The Olago Centre wrote stating that it was not in agreement with the council's decision in regard to the New Zealand cycling champion, Grose, being omitted. It was decided to reply that the selection of the. team would depend upon the results of the trials at Wanganui. The Union Cyclistc Internationale, of Paris, notified that the affiliation of tho New Zealand Cycling Federation to govern amateur and professional cycling in New Zealand had been approved by the congress. Tho New Zealand Federation had been £.•. two votes.
