GUESTS OF HUNT CLUB.
FARMERS ENTERTAINED. The farmers whose land tho Pakuranga Hunt Club hunts over during the season were the special guests of the club at a ball which was given in the Alangere East Hall on Friday night. As the following day was the opening of the hunting season farmers from all over tho district were present, including Pakuranga, ITowick, Papatoetoe, Clevedon, Armore, Papakura, Karaka, Pukekolie, Waiuku and Wairamarama, and the ball proved to be. one of the brightest and best that the club lias held at Alangere. The hall had been beautifully decorated by the ladies' committee with pungas and ferns supplied bv Air. Wills McLaughlin, flags and streamers adding a colourful effect to the scene. Bowls of chrysanthemums, dahlias and marigolds were placed upon the stage and they also decorated the tables in the supper room. The red coats worn by the orchestra were in keeping with the occasion and every now and again peals from the huntsman's horn added an infectious note of gaiety, to which the dancers responded. The ladies of the committee comprised: —Airs. AlcGrcgor Grant, who wore a frock of black floral ninon; Airs. Bingley (Opakeke), black velvet with white fur trimming; Airs. A. E. Watkins. pinksatin and georgette; Airs. Gordon Hamilton, black lace; Airs. Chris Allen, Mack lace and diamante trimming; Miss Ruby Wallace, maize lace; Aliss Shirley Watkins, ivory georgette; Aliss Walker, royal blue net scquinned frock; Aliss Rosita Sidebottom, pin-spot green organdie; Aliss P. Weston, black floral georgette; Aliss Dot Weston, green floral georgette. The men's committee comprised the master, Air. Bullock Webster, Dr. AlcGregor Grant, Mr. Wills AlcLaughlin, Air. B. Alyers, Air. J. SinclairLoekhart, Mr. A. E. Watkins, Air. 0. Allen, Air. J. Broolcs, Air. Gordon Hamilton, Air. Owen Self, Mr. A. Walker, Air. W. Duder, Air. F. Price, Air. C. Wallace.
