BOWLING ON ANZAC DAY.
Sir,—A very prominent bowling club in a leading suburb opened its green f ur play on Anzac Day afternoon. I Was wondering whether' this was done by other clubs on this day. I may be oldfashioned, but liberty is not doing wliafc you like—as illustrated by the smashing of windows of innocent "citizens— and fui> ther, there is still such a thing as outraging the sense of decency in the community. Bowlers have already done this to some extent by having an open tourna. ment on Good Friday—but let that pass,. Bowlers are composed of the older men and could surely sacrifice a few hours of selfish pleasure in deferring to the sentiments and ideals of such a very laig 9 number of earnest-citizens throughout our Dominion. Let us help education, p ro . mote civilisation and foster courtesy and the golden rule for the benefit of our coming race. A Bowler.
