FROZEN MEAT. (Received April 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 24. The weekly quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of wholesale quantities of carcases of mutton or lamb, or of quarters of beef delivered to Smithfield market and/or London stores. They are compiled by the Quotations Committee, Smithfield. To arrive at the equivalent ex ship values, ono farthing per pound should be deducted from the prices quoted below. Quotations given represent the average for the week and are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the, bulk of shipments now on offer. The Christchurch Drainage Board is in a position to redeem £IO,OOO worth of short-dated debentures. The debentures were issued to raise money advanced to householders to finance sewer connections, and recently the repayments have been exceeding the advances, with the result that funds have accumulated. Debenture issues affected are:—£46,loo 5£ per cent., duo March 3i, 1943; £22,000 5$ per cent., due August 31, 1936; £3OO 5? per cent., due February 28, 1937: £9OOO 5| per cent., due February 28, 1937.

GOLD AND SILVER. QUOTATIONS IN LONDON. (Received April 21, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 23. Gold is quoted to-day at £5 10s 6d an 07.., same as yesterday, compared with £5 9s lid on, April 21. Silver was quoted yesterday at 17d an oz. spot, and 17 l-i6d forward, compared with 16 13-16 d and 16 7-8 d on April 21.

STOCK SALES. Oil AUP 0 HORSE FAIR. The Js'ew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.. Hamilton, reports on its Ohaupo horse fair held on Friday ns follows:—A feature of the entry, which consisted of just under 100 draughts tuul 40 hacks, was the high standard of quality, practically all the draughts being good and reliable horses sold with trial. A large gathering of buyers competed freely for good sorts and very few reservations were made during the sale, find of those reserved most found buyers subsequently. Hacks did not meet with as keen a demand as the draughts, but a number of satisfactory sales were effected. Good draughts realised from £'lß to £25; average sorts. £l2 to £l7 10s; lighter, £0 10s to £lO 10s; average hacks, £3 10s to £5 2s Gd; others, lip to £3 10s. VALUES AT WAIHOU. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., reports that at the Waihou sale on Friday an average yarding of sheep and a heavy yarding of cattle, consisting mainly of store and boner cows, were penned. Late rates were maintained for and prices were considerably easier for all classes of cattle. There was a full yarding of pigs, prices fer all classes remaining on a par with lute quotations. Values were: —Fat wethers, 14s; fat ewes, 7s Id to lis; fat lambs, 10s (Id to 13s 3d; forward-con-ditioned ewes, 5s to 5s Cd; store ewes, 2s to 3s: store lambs, Gs 2d to 8s; fat heifers, £2 to £3 15s; fat cows, £1 13s to £2 ss; killable cows, £1 4s to £1 10s; fresh store cows, lGs to £1 Is; boners, 5s to Ms Id; potter bulls, £1 8s to £2 10s; 18-months Shorthorn ste«rs, £1 12s 6d; heifer calves. )0s to 15s.
