FEEDING THE SHARKS.

SYDNEY AQUARIUM SCENE.

THREE MONSTERS IN A POOL.

The several hundred persons who saw a huge tiger shark being fed in tha Aquarium Baths at Coogee, Sydney, recently will be careful in future when surfing. There were three sharks in the pool— Eric, 15ft. 3in. long; Lang, and de Groot. The two last-named had not eaten anything since they were placed in captivity. Lang and de Groot were caught on Good Friday and the following day, respectively, and Eric four days later. At 4 p.m. tho carcase of a sheep was thrown into tho water. Eric swam past it once. On the next time round ha raised his head and made a vicious snap. He fastened on to the carcase, and did. not release his hold until he had bitten off a big portion. It was not a furtive bite. The remainder of the sheep was pulled away from the shark, which came at it again, and in a second or two half of the sheep was gone, bones and all. Eric's normal daily meal is one dozen rabbits. lie makes up for what the others do not cat. The sharks were caught on a line near an island off Coogee Beach by Messrs. Fred Saunders and Bert llobson. It is proposed to hold what will b» known as " shark night." Prominent swimmers will be invited to the aquarium and there will be a musical programme.
