NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. * [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand ljockey Association yesterday every provincial association was represented. The officers elected were:—Patron, the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe; president, Mr. H. S. J. Goodman; vice-presidents, the presidents of affiliated associations; treasurer, Mr. P. N. Quartermain; secretary, Mr. W. H. Down; manacement committee, Messrs. R. Grace, C. Bellamy, H. Throp, A. F. Preston, S. G. Holland, C. C. Holland and I. Gunn; auditor, Mr. A. Stewart. A nwtion from the "Wellington Association that associations controlling matches with overseas teams be allowed to purchase the matches outright ot a price to be agreed upon between such association and the controlling body was defeated. WAIPA ASSOCIATION. NORDEN CUP CHALLENGE. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TB AWAMUTU, Frid/y. The report presented at the annual meeting of the Waipa Hockey Association last evening ehowed that the past season had been very satisfactory The finances had improved somewhat, several representative gamei had been played, and there was a sustained improvement in play throughout the season. Prospects were considered good for the 1932 season. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. C. G. Downes; president, Mr. C. A. Finch; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. O. Jourdain, H. C. Eainey. C. S. Davis, S. A. Empson and C. J. Spiers; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. R. Blomfieid; auditor, Mr. W. McGivern; grounds committee, Messrs. Finch, Davis and Spiers; delegate to the "Waikato Association, Mr. Craig. The Empson Cup competitions will be commenced on May 4, and a junior competition will be instituted. _ The Waikato Association advised that Waipa's challenge for the Norden Cup had been renewed, and the New Zealand Association urged to arrange for an early game, as Waipa's challenge last eeason was not played owing to Manawatu (holders) defeating six successive challengers. It was stated that as Manawatu is now applying for senior status the cup will probably be handed back to the New Zealand Association. WAIKATO REFEREES. OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR. The annual meeting of the Waikato Hockoy Referees' Association was held in Hamilton last evening. Mr. W. G. Fabling presiding over a good attendance. The annual report stated that the past season bad proved very successful and the standard of work had been high. A slight increase was recorded in the membership, but there was room for further improvement in this direction. Following are the officers for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. K. P. Fade; vicepresident, Mr. W. G. Fabling; secretary and treasurer. Mr. G. G Hunter;; appointments committee, Messrs. Ende, Hunter. R. \V. Bennett; delegate to New Zealand Association, Mr. R. Watchman; examiner.. Mr. Fabling; delegate to Waikato Ilockey Association, Mr. J. Tait. PLAY AT TAURANGA. [from our own correspondent. ] TAURANGA, Friday.
