HERE AND THERE.
M iss Edith Sitwel! Ims written a book about tlio city of Bath in the magnificent days of Beau Nash. Mrs. Maud Diver's novel, " Captain Desmond, V.C.," has been dramatised and is to bo presented at a London Theatre club in aid of various charities. Charles Dickens' grandson, Captain G. C. Dickens, has been promoted rear-ad-miral. He is a son of Sir Henry F. Dickens, K.C., Common Sergeant of the city of London. It is reported that a hitherto unknown poem by Richard Brinsley Sheridan has been discovered in Dublin by Mr. Seumas O'Sullivan. editor of the Dublin Magazine. It is said to be a satire of some 500 words. Mr. Arthur Bryant, whose " King Charles II." was one of the successes of the Christmas season, is engaged on a similar book about Fepys. Mr. Bryant is a soii of Sir Francis Morgan Bryant, formerly secretary to the late Lord Stamfordham. Mr. A. S. M. Hutchinson, whose " If Winter Comes " was a famous " bestseller " ten years ago, has been writing busily lately. He has finished one novel called " Big Business," and is halfway through another which will probably have the title of " Spring Song." Mr. Dale Collins wrote most of his new novel, " Jungle Maid," at sea on board the cargo boat on which lie and his wife travelled so extensively, visiting New York, the South Seas, Australia and N T ew Zealand, and the Far East. Some years ago, Mr. Collins sailed round Iho world in a little 64-ton yacht. Mr. Christopher Morley's now book, " Swiss family Manhattan," is—it is to be guessed from the title—a light satire on contemporary American life. Mr. Robinson and his family are wrecked, from an airship, on the unfinished top stories of New York's most astonishing skyscraper. What follows will surprise more than the Robinsons.
