HANDS AND NAILS.
MAINTAINING BEAUTY. HOW TO TREAT THEM. Soft white hards with rosy gleaming nails look far lovelier than uncared-for fingers with blunt, dull ends. Nail polishes and enamels can work wonders in a few minutes with neglected finger-tips, but, to obtain a flawless finish, you must grow smooth nails free from white spots, bumps and ridges, and sufficiently tough and elastic to form nicely rounded points without breaking. During the winter months and early in spring most of us suffer from a lack of Vitamin B. Without this mysterious substance calcium cannot be absorbed into tho blood, and as o.ir nails are largely composed of calciuri, they are badly nourished . A course of cod liver oil and malt and extra .calcium will usually put matters right. If you file your nails regularly every week "there should be no need to cut them with scissors. Don't leave them too long and pointed. Men shudder at talon-like finger nails! l\ ear them longer in the centre than at the sides if you like, but aim at daintiness, not a spectacular effect. Bevel the edge with the smoother side of an emery board. A splintered nail should be filed from underneath. Cleanse the tip of each nail daily with a wisp of cotton wool wrapped round the point of an oriugo slick and dipped in hydrogen peroxide. In time this little attention will bleach and whiten the nail tips.
