NELSON FRUIT EXPORT.

A SEASON OF RECORDS. In addition to record output for the season for export —confidently expected to exceed a million cases—two other record-; will be added to tiis year's achievements, reports the Nelsoi correspondent of the Weekly News. On April 11, 35,500 casos were received from the orchards for inspection —14,600 at Motueka, 10,500 at Mapua, and 10,403 at Nelson—being the highest number ever received in one day. The other noteworthy occurrence will bo the loading of 85,000 cases on the Port Adelaide, which will be the greatest quantity of fruit yet shipped diiect fiom Nelson in one steamer. So far over 600,000 cases have been sent away. As the total export will exceed a million cases, thoie will bo a tremendous rush in tho orchards in order to get the fruit away before tho Government guarantee is reduced. Work will have to proceed day and night if growers are to get their crops away to time. 'The picking of the early and mid-sen-son varieties disclosed that tlio loss through an infection of ej o rot was greater than expected. A hundred thousand cases is considered a cons u vativo estimate of the loss due to this trouble. The iniectron is attributed to the sxcessive rainfall in December, totalling nearly nino inches.
