COMIC OPERA SEASON.

On Tuesday night, next and following two evenings and at a matinee on Wednesday, .J. C. Williamson's very popular Gilbert and .Sullivan Comic Opera Company will appear in a presentation of the famous comedy opera "Dorothy," libretto by Stephenson, music by Collier. It is some years since this beautiful opera, has been seen in Auckland, but doubt less there are many who still remember tho lilting music and the sparkling choruses and ensembles. Hie recent revival in Wellington of "Dorothy" created a furore of enthusiasm and tho following was written of the production:— "Stage pictures do not make a play nor a comir: opera, but Collier's captivating 'Dorothy,' revived by the J. C. Williamson Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company opened its second act with a spectacle that will lonp bp ploasiirably remembered by all who saw it. The charm of Dorothy ' is its emphatically melodious and distinctive music; and it is too a definitely English work in origin, sentiment, and every other respect. Its melodies make an irresistible appeal to the great majority of playgoers." The. principal characters will bo, sustained by Misses Marie, Bremner as Dorothy, Mary Hotham as Lydia. Nancy Home as Phyllis, Evelyn Gardner as Mrs. Turvett, Valarie Walshe as Lady Betty, Leo Darnton as Geoffrey Wilder, Gregory Stroud as Harry Sherwood, John Ralston as Squire Banton, Bernard Manning as John Tupnett, Cliff Cowley as Tom Strutt. and the great comedy part of fiinchcn by Ivan Meiizies. The opera is produced by Dick Shortland. The musical director is Gustav Slapoffski, and the dances and ensemble have been arranged by Miss Irma Hngheson.
