BRITISH DIVORCE LAWS.
SUPPORTERS OF REFORM. FREE CHURCHMEN'S RESOLUTION. [FROM OUK OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] LONDON, Mnrch 17. A representative gathering of London Free Church ministers at the City Temple has passed a resolution in favour of the general basis of reform in the marriage law, as laid down by the Royal Commission on Divorce, 1909-1912. The Countess of Oxford and Asquith, who presided, asked if thoy thought the poor should have different justice meted out to them from tho rich. "The rich can get divorce, (ho poor cannot," blic said. "We must determine what is best for humanity. That morals aro weakened by"divorce is in opposition to my experience." Referring to an assertion that the Archbishop of Canterbury, in faking his stand on the indissolubility of marriage, was to be admired for having the courage of his convictions, Lady Oxford said: "11 .shows more courage to try to alter a convention than to stick to it."
