HOWICK INTERESTS.
CONDITION OF THE WHARF.
At a meeting of the Howick Town Board on Thursday evening it was decided to widen the culverts in Moore Street to conform with the improvements recently carried out in this street. The resurfacing of part of Cockle Bay Road and Picton Street also was authorised. Owing to the dangerous condition of the wharf several members were of the opinion that part should be taken down and the timber used to strengthen the remainder. A decision to secuxe expert advice was reached. The erection of an additional street light at the corner of Wellington and Picton Streets, in front of the board's office, was decided on. Building permits granted during the year ended March 31 were valued at £5066, it was reported by the building inspqptor. They comprised 10 new buildings and 12 alterations. A tender submitted by G. A. Newton and Company to supply East Tamaki scoria at 5s 8d a yard was accepted.
