THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. STEADY TRADING CONTINUES* No marker! change took place in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. A substantial volume of business was transacted, in which State loans and debentures shared prominently. Prices in most cases were steady, but where new levels were established tho movements, with one exception, were against sellers. Tho demand for Government securities was steady and holders quoted moro sparsely than on tho previous day. Three transactions were recorded in 1936 per cent, bonds, which were dono fit the current price of £9B 10s, and 1937 per cent. September-March slock was also released again at £9B 10s. For Mount Eden Borough, 1960, s;}- per cent, debentures, £9B 15s was roalised. There was no trading in tho banks group, in which levels were not materially altered. Further weakness developed in New Zealands, which fell 3d, and New South Wales were also sought easier at £24, a decline of 5s on ilio previous day's offers- Insurance commanded more attention at easier levels. South British were twice dealt, in 9rl lower at 48s and buyers of New Zealands re-entered the market with offers 3d easier at 34s 9d. Holders reduced their limits 3d to 365. In loan and agency business was completed in Dominion Investment and Bankings at 15s 6d, which represented a fall of 2s 6d on the last sale made in February. Auckland Gas were steady at 20s 6d, with more available at the price. Inquiry for a wide rango of shipping issues continued unsatisfied. Dealing in general investments was slight. A firmer market for Australian Glass was confirmed with sale 2s higher at 31s 6d, tho only gain of tho day. British Tobaccos were a shade firmer, but there was no inquiry for Colonial Sugars. A sale of Moturoa Oils took place equal to late rates at Is 9d, after which offers weakened from Is 7d to Is 4d. Mining investments were quiet and unchanged. A penny less was accepted for Waihi Junctions at 3s 7d.
