Mr. T. J- Thurman and Mr. W. Burton, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. G. A. Chambers, of Madras, sn d Mr. S. R. Lee, of Napier, are at the Hotel Stonehurst.
Mr. C. M. Croft, Canadian Trade Com missioner for New Zealand, left for Well ington last evening.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Alma Baker returned to Auckland from the Waikato yesterday and are at the Hotel Cargen.
Mr. R. Fox and Mr. R. Dowdall, of Wellington, and Mr. IT. L. Williamson, of Hawke's Bay, are at the Central Hotel.
The Hons. J. Trevethick, C. J. Carringt6n and W. Stewart, M.L.C.'s were passengers by the express from Wellington yesterday.
Professor R. «T- T. Bell, chairman of the Professorial Board of Olago Univ«rsity, has been awarded the degree of LL.D. bv the University of Glasgow.
