PROPOSED RESTRICTIONS.
SIR JOHN SIMON'S MOTION. (Received April 21, 0.5 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, April 20. At. to-day's silting of the General Committee, of the Disarmament Conference at Geneva Sir John Simon moved that without. prejudice to other proposals for discussion under later heads the conference declares its approval of the. principle of a restriction of weapons with a view to prohibiting by international convention their possession or use by any State. Sir John expressed the view that qualitative disarmament would bo more effective, as the most important thing was that no State should continue to live under a system iri which all classes of armaments are allowed. A proposal on the lines of Sir John's motion is before the conference in a. plan put forward by Italy and the United States. Another plan for the international control of certain armaments has beon advanced by France. The Yugoslavian delegation supported the latter scheme and Sir John's motion was approved by the German delegate, Dorr Madolny, and also was supported hv Sir Thomas Wilford (New Zealand) and Signor Grandi (Italy). ON WAY TO GENEVA. MacDONALD AND TARDIEU. (Received April 21. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 20. The Prune Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, left by air liner for Paris and Geneva after consulting his oculist. The French Prime Minister, AI. Tardieu, decided to accompany Mr. Mac Donald to Geneva in order to continue their conversations.
