LENGTHY PLUNKET WORK.

MISS EILEEN PARTRIDGE. Eulogistic references were made to the great service rendered to the Plnnket movement during the past seventeen years by Miss Eileen Partridge ns secretary of tho Auckland branch of the society, at the annual meeting this week of the Northcote Plnnket Committee. The president, Mrs. A. Campbell, said the spread of the movement throughout the province on such a sound basis was a great tribute to tho capable organisation at Auckland headquarters under the supervision of Miss Partridge, who had at all times given every assistance possible to the Northcote cominiitee, and had been most sympathetic and diplomatic in dealing with difficulties. ]n view of Miss Partridge's contemplated extended trip to Great Britain the Northcote members of the society desired to take the opportunity to express in some small measure their great personal esteem and regard for her and intense appreciation of the splendid work performed for Ihe benefit of child welfare and mothercraft.

The vice-president, Mrs. W. E. Carter, handed Miss Partridge a beautiful bouquet of rose and silver coloured flowers and a blue-covered address book.

Mrs. Campbell said these colours indicated the wish of tho members that she would have a rosy timo abroad, that the clouds would have a silver lining, and that she would always look upon blue skies, for the skies of England wero not always as blue as wo enjoyed here. Miss Partridge was received with prolonged applanso on responding, and she was honoured by being placed in the chair to preside over the gathering.
