ESCAPE OF PRISONER.

CUDBY AGAIN REMANDED.

STILL CONFINED TO HOSPITAL

A further adjournment was granted by Mr. F. K. Hunt, 8.M., in tho Police Court yesterday, in the case in which Roy George Cudbv, aged 29, labourer, is charged with being a roguo and a vagabond, in that he escaped from lawful custody on February 3. At the time of tho alleged offence Cudbv, a long-term prisoner from Mount Eden gaol, was an inmate of tho Auckland Hospital, where he had undergone an operation for the removal of his left eye, which was sightless.

In asking for a remand until May 5 counsel said accused was still in hospital and it was understood the sight of his remaining eye would be permanently affected. He would probably be discharged from hospital in about a fortnight. The remand was granted.
