The To A warn nlu Horticultural Society's autumn show was opened to-day by the Mayor, Mr. C. G. Downes, who congratulated tho socioty on again securing n remarkably fine, display, including exhibits from Cambridge and tile neighbouring districts. Tho cluimpion chrysanthemum was exhibited by Mr. A. 11. Roberta, of To AwallllltU.

Keen interest was shown in the district couits' competition. I'nterangi won tho Blundell Shield for cut flowers, with 94 points. Tokanui district being second with 7.) and Kihikihi and Pokuru tied lor third place with 73 points each. the dark Shield for the best district display of fruit and vegetables was won by Huirini, with Pokuru second.

There was a good attendance at the chrysanthemum and autumn flower show hold to-day at Whakarewarewu. A good exhibition of blooms was staged and there wero good entries in almost all sections. Tho champion chrysanthemum bloom of the show was exhibited by Mrs. Tyson, who also won several other prizes. Following were tho principal prize-win-ners:— _ . . Chrysanthemums.—Six varieties, .Japanese: Mrß. Tyson. Four varieties, single: Mrs. Carter. Best collection: Airs. Tyson. Best-arranged bowl: Mrs. W. Carter. Violets.—Two largest blooms: Mrs. Henderson. Bunch of 50. men's: Air. Knowles. I3ost collection: Mr. W. IT. Young. Other Exhibits.—Pansies: Mrs. Henderson. Carnations, four varieties: Airs. Knowles. Best collection: Mrs. Knowles. Champion bloom: Mrs. Henderson. Best bunch of autumn flowers: Mrs. Robinson. Best bowl of cosmos: Airs. Carter and Airs. Briscoe, equal. Michaelmas daisies: Airs. Briscoe. Atargiolds: Mrs. Knowles. Decorative foliage: Aliss Robinson. Children's Class.—Vaso of autumn flowers: Miss Alitton. Best buttonhole: Aliss Sheila Knowles. Best basket of flowers: Miss Mitton.
