KING'S GODSON WEDS.
THEIR MAJESTIES ATTEND. BRIDE IN CLOTH OF GOLD. GREAT CROWD ROUND ABBEY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, April 18. The King and Queen to-day attended the wedding in Westminster Abbey of Lord Hyde, the King's godson and heir of the Earl of Clarendon, GovernorGeneral of South Africa, and the Hon. Marion Glyn, daughter of Lord Wolverton. Their Majesties signed the marriage register. Ten thousand people, including hosts of city girls who went without their luncheon, surrounded the Abbey to cheer Their Majesties and to see the golden bride who was married at the high altar, an honour usually reserved for Royalty. The Queen wore a beige and pink capecoat with toque and «hoes to match. A gasp of admiration announced the arrival of the dark-haired bride. She was gowned in cloth of gold with a veil of Brussels lace and a shower bouquet of cream and gold orchids. Her head-dress was composed of orange blossom. The pages wore gold satin breeches and goldtinted lawn shirts. The bridesmaids wore gold satin, covered with gold net, and had gold arid green leaves entwined in their hair. They carried flame-coloured tulips streaked with gold. The train-bearers included Peter Ward, Lord Dudley'e grandson. Although women spectators defied the traffic regulations and broke the police cordon, the issue of tickets to guests prevented "gate-crashing."
George Herbert Arthur Edward Hyde Villiers, Lord Hyde, eldest son and heir of the Earl of Clarendon, was born on May 6, 1906. He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Oxford. Frederick Glyn, 4th Baron Wolverton, father of Lord Hyde's bride, is the second son of Vice-Admiral the Hon. Harry Carr Glyn. He married Lady Edith Amelia Ward, only daughter of the first Earl of Dudley. Lady Hyde has one sister and two brothers.
