ONEHUNGA COUNCIL.
INSURANCE OF EMPLOYEES. At a meeting 3f the Onehunga Borough Council last evening the Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, reported that a tally of the council's tools showed that a considerable number was missing. The council decided to place :he matter in the hands of the police. Mr. J. D. Robb reported that the sickness insurance scheme offered by an assurance association was an extremely favourable one.. Provided the age limit was extended to 60 years it was decided to adopt it on the basis of a weekly compensation of £2. The foreman reported that the employees had approved of the scheme. Application is to be made to the Government to authorise local bodies to apply the proposed stimp duty on local body debenture coupons as a special discount on rates.
