OBITUARY.

DR. D'ARCY-IRVINE. BISHOP OF SYDNEY DIOCESE. (Received April IS. 8.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 18. The death lias occurred of Dr. D'ArcyIrvine, Anglican bishop, diocese of Sydney, in his 70th year. Dr. Gerald Addington D" Arc-y-Ii vine was born at Wandsworth, London, on .Tunc 17. 1862. He was educated at the X a pier (New Zealand) Grammar School and Moore College, New South Wales. He was ordained in 1885, and his first curacy was at Newtown, Sydney. Me became Vicar-General of (lie diocese of Sydney in 1917, and Bishop ( of Sydney, 1926. He was the author of u volume of poems. Dr. D'ArCv-Frvine was twice married, his second wife (1928) being a daughter of the late Mr. W. 1. Angus. MR. JEREMIAH MACVEIGH. (Received April 18. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 17. The death is reported of Mr. Jeremiah Maeveigh, formerly member of the Ulster Parliament for Sontli Down. Mr. J. Macveigh represented South Down in the Parliament of Northern Ireland. 1902-22. Tie was born at Belfast in 1870. After matriculation at the Royal University of Ireland he entered journalism. He represented the Daily News during the evictions under Hie Plan of Campaign, his descriptive articles being reprinted and largely circulated in the English constituencies. He took an active part, in Nationalist politics in Belfast. Later he went to England and became private secretary to Sir .Tames Whitehead, a former Lord Mayor of Fjondon. When he was in England he identified himseif prominently with Frish politics, and wrote many political leaflets. pamphlets, etc. lie was called to the Bar in 1018.

MR. W. A. REDMOND. DUBLIN. April IT. The death has occurred of Mr. W. A. Redmond, who collapsed at the funeral of a friend at Waterford. Mr. William Archer Redmond, who was the only son of the late Mr. John Redmond, one of the chief lieutenants of I'arnell in the fight for Home Rule, represented Waterford in the Dail. lie was leader of the Independent, Party. Born in 1886, he was educated at Olongowcs Wood College and Trinity College, Dublin. He was called to tile Irish Bar in 1910 and Gray's Inn, 1921. He sat, in the. House, of Commons for Tyrone, 191018 and Waterford, 1918-21, then entered the. Dail for that constituency. Mr. Redmond served in the Great War as a captain in the Irish Guards and won the D.S.O.
