POSITION IN FRANKLIN. [FROM Ol'll OWN COR RESPONDENT.] PVKF.KOHE, Monday. A credit balance in tlui county fuml of £13,437 at March 31 was disclosed in a report presented by the clerk, Mr. A. P. Day, at a meeting of the Franklin County Council to-day. Tlio report stated that £48,633, or 76 per cent., of the total rates duo during the past financial year, including arrears, hail been received at March 31. The amount, of rates outstanding at the beginning of tile present, financial year was £14,407, as against £16,819 at the beginning of last year. Payments in the new financial year had already reduced the credit balance to £8423.
