YOUTH'S LONG ROW.
DISTANCE OF 34 MILES.
OYSTERS AS SOLE DIET.
Edward John Ely, aged 19, who was reported missing from tho vessel Noosa Heads recently, returned to Brisbane the following afternoon. Ho had rowed from tho Pilo Lighthouse, a distance of about 34 miles.
Ely said that, after rowing a passenger to Woodv Point, he rowed back to where he had 'left the vessel. When ho returned ho was astounded to find that tho vessel had gone. Ho decided to row to Brisbane, and reached North Quay, where the Noosa Heads was moored, about 5 p.m. next day. Tho only food he had eaten since tho previous morning consisted of oysters, which he had picked from the rocks on the liver. Although extremely tired ho was none tho worse for his adventure.
