QUEEN'S "BUY BRITISH."
LAVISH ORDERS.
TOYS FOR LITTLE PRINCESS. Visiting tho great British Industries manifesting the utmost interest in the fair at Olympia, recently, the Queen set an admirable example of how to '* Buy British." Her Majesty went from stall to stall, manifesting tho utmost interest in the exhibits, and buying on a lavish scale. It was Royal Day at the fair, as besides tho Queen, the Duke and Duchess of York, the Princess Royal and Prince George all attended and inspected every stand in tho huge building, splitting up into groups after making a general survey.
Manicure sets, bread knives, scout knives, silver ornaments and canteens of cutlery were included in tho large store of purchases made.
One stall manager said: "I have been an exhibitor at the fair ever since it was started, and I have never known the Queen and the other members of the Royal party to buy so much as they havo done to-day.
" Tho Queen has been simply lavishing orders everywhere." Four cases of enamelled manicure sets, a toilet set, enamelled in her favourite T)lue, and enamelled trinket boxes were among her selections. Another purchase by the Queen was. a doll's house and kitchenette fitted with electric light. vShe said that they were the most useful methods of teaching children how to run a household.
At a toy stall nearly every member of tho Royal party purchased some specimens of toy animals. An artificial Christmas tree, the first of its kind made in England, was bought by
the Queen. The Duchess of York bought almost as freely as tho Queen. In the toilet section she noticed some tiny baby tablets of soap, and remarking, " Those will just do for my children," bought sevoral packets.
The Duchess also bought the biggest rocking horse in the fair. It is ten hands high, and she said it would " just do " for Princess Elizabeth, who will also have a dump wagon to be used when she goes gardening.
