GOLD-GETTING THEORY.

" MILLIONS FROM LAVA."

CERMAN CHEMIST'S CLAIM.

* ALL FOR BRITAIN'S BENEFIT."

The fact that five of the greatest metallurgists in Britain have challenged his claims does not dishearten Mr. Charles Gladitz, a. German chemist who professes to be able to extract gold from lava from the island of Ascension in a factory at Southall, Middlesex. He savs he regards their condemnation of his scheme as a vindication of his theory. The man who claims to hold the secret of how to produce £25,000.000 in gold a year was working in his laboratory when a Daily Express correspondent called. " I do not care every expert in the world Bays that there is no gold in lava," he Raid. " I had twenty-four assays made before I started my experiments, and each assay certified that there was no gold. I extracted some by my secret process. Shortly I shall show all the scientists and metallurgists in the world that my claims are correct, and that will be my vindication.

"Fifty years ago, if you had said that you had a machine which would enable a man coughing in London to be heard in New York, people would have said you were mad. It is the same with my process. To-day the experts say it cannot be done. Soon they will see their mistake."

Mr. Gladitz hinted that his experiments had now reached a very advanced stage, and that he had not confined himself solely to lava. Every day I am working on my book, which will explain in detail my atomic theory which governs my discoveries and experiments," he added. " I have now written 300 pages. It will total more than 1000 pages. " My book represents the whole of my twenty-three years' research work. When it is published it will be open before the eyes of everyone. When they read it and examine it will be the time for them to condemn me.

" I am satisfied that I am doing a great Work which will benefit Britain. Your Government gave me four and a-half years' holiday duiing the war, and it was then that I evolved my theories. I have them to thank for that, and will repay it by jetting this country benefit from my labours.

"I am not telling any shares. I have keen inundated, with requests to bny shares. 1 cannot do that. Every day hundreds of letters arrive asking me to sell some shares, and some people send money. I have to return it all. Soon, very soon, I will let the world see that I am right, if the world will just let me .Work in peace*" The white-coated inventor left his visitor to return to the laboratory.
