With the intention of preventing uneconomic competition, regulations undir the Board of Trade Act have been gazetted empowering the Minister of Industries and Commerce to limit the erection of new picture theatres. The new ordinance is to be known as the Board of Trade (Cinematograph Films) Regulations 1932, and is operative immediately. The regulations authorise the Minister to appoint officers to control and issue licences to exhibitors in localities where the erection of additional theatres "would be likelv to result in unreasonable economic waste."
