Mr. 11. A. Taylor, author of " Smith of Birkenhead," has completed his biography of tbc late Mr. Bonar Law. The Marquess of Huntly, who is in his 85th year, is engaged on a new book of reminiscences. This will bo his third. Now that his " Work, Wealth, and Happiness of Mankind " is launched on its way, Mr. H. G. Wells is -working on another novel. Tbc manuscript of five stanzas apparently unpublished, which Byron wrote, in 1812, will be included in the forthcoming sale of the Earl oi Durham s library. Mr. Thomas Le Breton, author of the famous sketch " A Sister to Assist Fr. has died at his home near Pinner, aged 77. His real name was Thomas Ford. An author to die in January was Mr. Thomas Cobb, lie was 77. During tho 40 odd years he was writing he published over 90 books and many short stories. His latest novel " Who Closed the Casement V appeared on tho day of his death. A long-popular author whose death was recently announced, is Mr. Ilalliwell Sutcliffe. He wrote over 30 novels, most of them dealing with the Yorkshire dales and moors. lie was born at Thackley, near Bradford, and had been living near Skipton for many years. The cottage at Llangernyw, North Wales, where the late Sir Henry Jones, Professor of Moral Philosophy at Glasgow University and tho author of several books on philosophy, was born, is to be purchased and converted into a museum. At one time Sir Henry worked as a cobbler.
