J don't know hew the seed got there; but, there the cabbage stands as a sentinel shading my delicate seedlings fron. the hot summer sun. Keturmng from our long summer vacation. I found my gurJen just a wilderness. After weeding it 1 dug ii up ready for the new seeds. After waiting for the ruins to freshen up tlio soil. I planted my seeds, which had been given to mo by my school chums. The seedlings are now iresli and green, and I mi waiting for the time when my garden slnill be a riot of colour. lam imagining my garden as it. will be in spring. There will be tall and stately hollyhocks, dainty little 1 nve in the-mist with its wistful blue flowers; sweet peas shedding their fragrance all around, sturdy little lupins, blue, pink and yellow linarias of many colours, Ecarkt Sweet Williams, golden faced marigolds, which seem to reflect every bit of sunshine; and I have also that loveliest of all flower*, the modest violet, with its rich purple flowers and its ever-pleasing perfume.—From Margaret (ierrand, Kotowaro (age 10).
