WRONGLY CONVICTED MAN.
A free pardon granted to Mr. George Howell, of Burslem, Staffordshire, was read in the police court at Witisford, Cheshire. Mr. Howell was convicted in his absence, and fined £2 for driving a motor vehicle without a red rear light. It was subsequently proved that the man who was stopped had used Mr. Howell's licence and given his name and address without Mr. Howell's knowledge. The clerk said the pardon was signed by Sir Herbert Samuel, Home Secretary, and was granted by the King, lhe penalty wag remitted.
