FINGER BLOWN OFF.
OXFORD COACH'S MISHAP. Mr. N. S. T. Benson, a member of St. John's College, Oxford, was running along the bank following St. John's crew, which he had been coaching in the Torpids race at Oxford on February 24, when he shot off one of his fingers with a revolver used for urging on the crew. He had fired three cartridges when the weapon jammed, and the accident occurred when he tried to extract the cartridge. Dr. Pat Mallam, the old 'varsity rowing " blue," was sent for and dressed the hand.
