QUEEN VISITS CHAUFFEUR.
LONDON HOSPITAL INCIDENT. Simpson is one of the royal chauffeurs. He was in the London Hospital recently, recovering after an operation to his foot. He was progressing well, but on February 29, ho made a great leap toward recovery. lie was delighted because he had an unexpected visit from the Queen. The Queen was visiting the hospital. She went to pay a private visit. Suddenly sho remarked: "I must see Simpson!" And they conducted her across to the Sophia Ward, where the royal employee was, after having been operated on by Mr. A. J. Walton, surgeon to the royal who recently operated on the Duke of Gloucester. The Queen sat for some time chatting to Simpson, and heard all about his illness. She told him how glad she will be when he can resume work. When the Queen arrived at the hospital her first thought was not for the patients—but for the sick nurses. So they led her to the sick nurses' quarters, and there, as she passed from one bed to the other, she delighted the occupants by showing her personal interest.
