STREET MEETINGS.

Sir, —The.deploraLle accident that happened last week-end at the Salvation Army meeting in Beresford Street could have been averted. I for one have been expecting this for some time, as nearly all traffic enters from Pitt Street, particularly on Sunday evening,, between 6 and 7 p.m., to attend the Congregational Church. There is no traffic on the other side entering Pitt Street and good shelter under the Oas Company premises. Last year I was unfortunate in having a lad on a cycle collide with me at the Amy meeting, and I paid his repair bill. There are always children playing round the meeting and it takes all the street on the left, causing motorists to go on the wrong side of the building in the middle of the road. It is high time that the police handled this matter, otherwise there may be more serious consequences. Arthur, C. Bush. .
