LIONESS IN CAFE.
EXCITEMENT AT CANNES. BRAVE WOMEN STOP PANIC. CANNES. March 30. There was an exciting scene in a smart restaurant adjoining the Casino at Cannes when a lioness, from a. wild animal show, escaped from her cage. There were 700 guests in the restaurant at the time, and a panic began. Some of the women fainted, and others rushed to the exits. Lady Oxford, Lady Mountbatten, Madame Dubonnet, formerly Mrs. Nash, known as the. "best-dressed woman in Europe," then joined forces t° calm the diners, and called to the orchestra to play a merry jazz number.
Alter the use of a fire hose a, liontamer managed to lassoo the lioness and return' her to her cage.
