She gained valuable experience vdt'n the French State Railways, when she not only had the direction of their Cherbourg-Paris charabanc service in her hands, but also acted a; consulting engineer to the company.
l The depot, of the Waitrmata Women's ' Progressive League, formerly in the Strand Chambers at Takapuna, has been ( moved to Hurstmere Road owing to the extension of the library which included tho room previously used by the league. • It has been decided this winter to collect donations of sheets and. pillow-cases for a maternity bag to be used by indigent mothers
Ammg Iho farewell parlies which have teen given for Mrs. C'oleman and Miss Ruby Coleman was a morning tea which was held at the' kindergarten in Upper , Queer; Street by the committee. Mrs. ' Coleman and her daughter were presented ■with bouquets, and on belie.lf of the committee, Mrs. Kirker, the president, presented Mrs. C'r.lema.i, who is a member °f the committer, with a. book in token of their regard. Several little songs were charmingly sung /by the children, and each child received as a present from Mrs. Coleman sn Easter egg. The tables for tea had ben arranged by the- committee with gerberas.
A very successful garden fete in connection wiit h Christ Church, Papakura, held in the vicarage grounds on Easter Monday. The weather was perfect and a large gathering was . present, thereby enabling the church funds to ke augmented to Ihe extern; of £4O. The 'tails and i-ompetitions were conducted by helpers from Fapakura, Drury and Kal *aka. 11j( ; Christ Church Tennis Club j>sld a tournament,-followed by a danco in the paiish hall, which was attended ty 100 people and proved a. considerable in making the entertainment suecessful. The handsome• brass hand made f'fe-sciern made and donated by Miss G. wood, was won by Miss O. Blanch, of opalie];e.
