INCREASED REVENUE.
NEW SOUTH WALES LINES. RAILWAYS AND TRAMS. Sir. Gosling, Chief Secretary of New South WaliiH, states that, as a result of the operation of the Transport Acfc, and notwithstanding the abnormal depression, tlie railway revenue had improved at the rate of £1.200,000 a year, and tramway revenue £7.50,000 a year. Hie railway officials had informed him, Mr. Gosliiiii; stated, that while tli'3 railway revenue for the financial year ended June 30, 1928, amounted to £19,029,512, it had decreased to £15.205,741 for the 12 months ended June 30, 1931. Notwithstanding this serious reduction in earnings, the interest on invested railway capital increased for the same years from £5,882,452 to ££,790,082, plus £737,633 for exchange.
