FIRST QUARTER'S FIGURES. FEWER BIRTHS AND MARRIAGES. In comparison with the figures for March, 1931, last month's vital statistics for Auckland show considerable decreases in both births and deaths, while the number of marriages increased by seven. The returns for the first three months of the year are substantially lower in births and marriages, but slightly higher in deaths, compared with the corresponding period last year. A decrease in the number of deaths during last month and the first quarter of the present year, compared with the figures for the corresponding periods of last year is shown in the vital statistics for Hamilton.
