TRANSPORT ACT.
OBJECTIONS AT ROTORUA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Thursday. The Transport Act was discussed at a meeting of tlio Rotorua Borough Council last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, stating it, had been suggested that direct- representation should bo made to the Government, pointing out tho loss that would occur through this channel. Many local bodies, it seemed, were not awaro of tho extent tho Act, would affect their finance. Tho legislation would make a great difference to tho Rotorua Borough. It was decided to forward a protest to tho Government, and to approach local bodies in tho Auckland Province to find out whether they would support the council in its protest against the legislation.
